Yates and Wheland is pleased to offer the 2023 Family Adversity Scholarship to recognize students who have been through hardships with their families. As lawyers, we have served many individuals who have been in hard situations, and we know how stressful it can be during those times. We admire people who are able to learn and improve when faced with struggles. That’s why we are offering the Family Adversity Scholarship to recognize students who have been through hard times with their families and have come out the other side a better person.
Our firm is offering this $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior, college student or graduate student who can articulate how the struggle they faced has impacted them. Applicants must be either currently pursuing a higher education at a two to five year post-secondary institution or must be doing so in the following semester. Applicants must also meet the following eligibility requirements:
The recipient of the Family Adversity Scholarship will be chosen during the month after the scholarship deadline.
To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must email their full application (including the essay, resumé, and transcript) to info@ywlawyers.com by September 30, 2023. Any applications sent after this date will not be considered.
Scholarship applications should be sent with the subject line “Family Adversity Scholarship Application”, followed by the applicants first initial and last name.

While everyone faces hardships in life, the most commendable of individuals are those that learn and improve from those hardships. Yates & Wheland believes that students who find a way to improve not only after a struggle or challenge, but everyday, are increasingly valuable in today’s world. Yates and Wheland would like all applicants to know that we appreciate you sharing about how you have improved after facing struggles along with your family.
